Saturday Nora went to Nana & Pawpaw’s for the afternoon and a slumber party so Tim and I could attend the Ohio River Throwdown; a brand new “festival” at Riverbend featuring blues/R&B bands such as the Carolina Chocolate Drops, JJ Cole & MoFro, Los Lobos and Tedeschi Trucks Band.
All the music was fantastic - however being the inaugural event, they definitely could have utilized the space better, i.e. spread out the vendors and bring more in.
We saw The Dynamites with Charlie Walker [Dad, they were your stuff], J Roddy Walston & The Business [by far our favorite band - younger guys who had more of a rock feel], JJ Cole & MoFro and the headliners, Tedeschi Trucks Band.

Derek Trucks; not a handsome man, but his uncle was the drummer for the Allman Bros. Derek is a phenomenal guitar player. |
After the previous night, I hit a wall around 10pm during the final show. I really tried to rally but all I wanted to do was crawl into bed. Tim & I compromised and we left at 10:30pm.
I gloriously slept in until almost 8am. [Nana said Nora slept until 7:30!] Nana made us a fantastic breakfast before we left.
The weather was so fantastic I worked a 9-mile run in the middle of the day, then we had a relaxing family afternoon with a grillout dinner.
