20 Weeks
Saturday early evening I was set to run the Rat Race 5K in Loveland - we’d planned for Tim & Nora to come and cheer me on; a fun event for us to get out as a family and for me to enjoy some running! Well, the weather was the largest wrench in our plan - it never hit 50˚ I believe, and it was windy, so I didn’t want my little nugget exposed to that just yet. Additionally, her completely random nap schedule had her fall asleep at 3:45 and I needed to leave by 4:30, so that and the next feeding was a smaller wrench. Tim and I agreed he’s stay back with Nora so she could get her sleep and not be sitting in the chilly weather. Bummer.
I ended up running with my friends William & Emma [who is 35 wks preggers mind you!] and still had fun. Ran my average 10 min mile which is fine by me! Speed is not the point of my running. I wish I could have stuck around for the after-party, but Tim had evening plans so I needed to get home to relieve him.
It was also the first time ever that I wasn’t home to nurse Nora before bedtime! Tim gave her a bottle and she was totally cool with that and went to bed well. Nice to know I have that option now!

Thumbsucker
19 Weeks
I asked the Ped. if it was possible to start a bad habit suck as thumbsucking this early. Apparently it is! I’m trying to keep Nora’s thumb out of her mouth as much as possible and replacing it with a teether. All bets are off though when she’s going down for a nap.
This bad habit is ... well, bad! I’ve found 3 red blisters on her left thumb which I’ve read are a result of babies sucking their thumbs - ack!

So It’s Katherine!
19 Weeks
... is who Nora looks like! Minus her blue eyes versus Katherine’s brown. It’s not exact, but Tim and I see the many faces of Nora and Katherine looks to be the winner!

Parenting Fail
19 Weeks
So Nora has been making noises at night that will wake us up, but she typically soothes herself to sleep after a few minutes. Last night it happened probably every 2 hrs starting around midnight.
She actually cried herself awake around 6:30am and when we got her up we realized why - she had a poopy diaper! This was the first time she’s ever pooped at night (yes, she poops that little)! The poor thing had probably been laying in it since around midnight and her bottom was all red and irritated. Tim and I felt awful this morning. We slathered her bum with some cream but Tim reports that she’s still super-raw and irritated... we can’t get rid of our frowns today.

Mini Milestone
18 Weeks
Nora has achieved some new acrobatics; reaching her toes into her mouth! It happened Tuesday evening after Nana left and I was getting Nora into her PJs. That hefty cloth diaper was off so she was limber enough to streeeeetch those little toes up to her mouth and get a good suckle on her toes before needing to rest. I just stood back and let her have some time to enjoy this new body part.
We’ll have to try and snap a photo of it.
It’s pretty funny and quite cute to see how hard she works to achieve this “feet” - Hi-Yohhh! Haha.

I still have maternity pants that I wear. And I wore a pair yesterday to work - BUT these maternity pants defy the norm. First of all, they’re size ONE maternity pants - isn’t that an oxymoron?? These things never fit me during my pregnancy. So they are slim.
Second, they are a decent color - a dark chambray and straight cut so they actually look pretty decent for work.

Easter Weekend
18 Weeks
More evolution - Wednesday I had Nora on the ground before bedtime and she’s lifting her legs and swinging them side to side - getting closer to a roll! I admittedly give her some help sometimes and she seems to enjoy it. Tummy Time isn’t a struggle anymore which is pleasant.
I realized how involved we’ll become in Holidays now - Easter was really just another day here, visiting with family, but I’m sure we’ll find our own way to celebrate with Nora.
I can’t believe I haven’t even been back a month yet to work - it sure feels like it! I still feel bad missing one day of work, but so far it’s working... I’m nervous for the inevitable business trip which I’m sure will happen at least once this year. Tim already has one on the books for the first week of May - two nights away - ack!
