Productive Saturday

We love our new house - however, the “yard” - which is mostly landscaping - will be a little more maintenance. The previous owner had become a divorcee, so I can’t blame her for letting it fall to the wayside.

Nana graciously took Nora on Saturday/Saturday night so Tim and I could focus on cleaning up the yard. After dropping Nora off, we pulled up to the house and the delivery truck for our dining room table was waiting for us - wow! Deliveries never come at the beginning of your slotted window! The table fits well in the space and we’re happy to have a place for people to sit while eating now!

The first tackle of the day was the [too] tall ornamental grass that flanks the driveway entrance. Thankfully we have an old hedge trimmer from my Dad so the job was fairly easy. We found the middle of the larger bunch was definitely a home for a mid-sized animal because it had been flatted with two “hallways” and two “rooms” inside the grass - wow!

We had at least two neighbors comment on how great it is that we trimmed down the grass for safety purposes - ! Which is true, it was hard to see beyond the grass leaving the driveway, as well for those who come around the road.

Tim spent the rest of the day [about 12-6pm!] blowing leaves and mowing. I spend the rest of the day fixing small items and getting all my herbs and flowers planted, and cleaned the entire house. Productivity!

I made our cutoff 6pm to get cleaned up. We went to MJ’s restaurant in downtown Milford - we were expecting a bit of a local’s bar/grille and were pleasantly surprised that it was a little more contemporary with awesome food and a great craft beer selection. We were done by 8pm and even though we were exhausted, decided we’d better take advantage of our rare date night and went down to the Milford Inn for one beer. Much more “local” bar feeling and still had a great craft beer selection [the Eastside really delivers on the drinks!].

We were home and in our PJs by 9pm after a marathon day! Thanks again Nana for letting us get so much work done - and a date night to boot!

Feels so good to sit!

This is Ailo 90% of the time - staring at his master.

  1. Table looks great! Ailo is by far (besides the poking) the most hilarious animal I've met.
