We have a tooth sighting!

8 Months, Week 3

I see the ridge of a tooth finally!

Maybe this explains the 11pm crying came from. Ooph.
Nora has also been extremely clingy too... seems that can be connected to teething, but I’ve also read this age area also contains the separation anxiety phase...

Fall Fashion

8 Months, 2 Weeks

Everyone knows the Septemeber issue is the most important fashion issue of the year - which is why I’ve been stocking up for Nora in 12 mo. clothes - !

I just recently realized I’ve been neglecting the fact that while the 6-mo pants “fit,” they’re tight and cropped up to her knees. Whoops.

So we took a trip to my favorite child store - Lil’ Sprouts but only found a pair of 9-mo PJs [which she also needed], a UC onesie for $5 [Go Bearcats!], a new toy that lights up and play music [I done did it], a pair of Minnetonka moccasins for $6 [amazing!] and a fall coat for $8 I could not pass up because it was just too cute.

Grampy Batty - we’re all set now for a UC photoshoot with you!

I totally went against my “educational toys” rule.

Oh and some rockstar tight black jeggings - win!

Next Wave...

Our friends Doug & Sue had their second child on Friday morning - Tabitha Grace. She was the 5th girl of our “gang” due within a year of each other. Truly a beautiful baby!

Additionally a friend couple and work friend are both due with their first[s] at the end of January - congratulations Maren & Chris and Lesley & Mike!

Tabitha Grace White - 7lbs 13oz

Puff You

8 Months, Week 2

After some comfort with puréed foods, I realize we need to start getting Nora familiar with feeding herself by picking up small pieces of food. She grabs her spoon now and then, but hasn’t really grabbed for food.

This past week I had Nora’s caregivers try some small pieces of fruit to no avail - bummer.

Today I finally picked up some Plum Organics puffs - I broke them in half because I was slightly paranoid about the size - and tried to demonstrate to Nora that she could put them in her mouth. It’s funny that every other item in this house goes straight in there except the food on her tray! I jammed a little puff half in her mouth and she of course made a face and eventually swallowed it.

So we’ll try not to push too hard, but I want her to learn.

Nora has been crawling steadily now for about a week I’d say - off to the races! And along with the crawling came pulling herself up on everything! Mainly people - which is cute : )

And finally we realized we need to upgrade the pumpkin seat to a convertible seat. I think we’re a bit late, just now realizing she’s too big for that thing and is starting to get uncomfortable. I think I was hanging on because we still use the pumpkin seat on the grocery cart [with supervision] but have been testing her sitting in the shopping carts on her own like a big girl.

Convertible seat is being ordered right after I post!

The baby gate is because Nora has already bonked her face twice on the tile.

Zoo Crowded

8 Months, Week 2

Today was Tim’s office day at the zoo - all free so why not? We arrived around 11am with a diaper full of POOP. Massive. Nothing like changing a really bad diaper in the back of the car in a parking lot, am I right?

I know Nora couldn’t really comprehend where she was, but she still can enjoy the busy-ness and Tim and I could acquaint ourselves with a Cincinnati staple for the first time in like a decade.

It was a Saturday and gorgeous out so the crowds were hard to navigate. We saw glimpses of a handful of animals - the gorilla looked particularly glum while he rested his chin on his hand. Tim refused to go in the reptile area. I refused the insects.

The Acco lunch was pretty... sad. There was a sign that if you’re vegetarian to ask a caterer for a veggie burger - I wasn’t going to hunt anyone down so I found what I could. The meal was a burger or hotdog, chips and beans. Even Tim was let down - especially because as I ate and he fed Nora, they packed up the food - ! So we walked over to Skyline so Tim could have some lunch. He probably liked his meal better : )

I was over the crowds and tired [Mom, not Nora] so we packed up and headed home.

It won’t be our last time, so we’ll get to know the zoo better as the years tick by.

Crawlin’ & Climbin’

8 Months, Week 2

Things have been speeding up! I think we can officially say Nora is crawling now - !! Let the chasing begin. Along with that she is readily sitting up on her own from the belly position and is starting the attempts to pull herself up on whatever she can grab onto.

Two weekends ago we went down to a friend’s lake house in Kentucky - Nora did not nap on the hour drive down [of course] but she did nap about an hour before lunchtime. She did great in the heat and hanging out with her pal Ava on the dock. We even attempted to get her in the water in a little floaty raft... it was a little challenging and Nora inhaled a little lake water which kind of freaked me out after all the “bacteria” stories you hear.

We left by 4pm and Nora was asleep before we even hit the highway - a fun but tiring day!

This past weekend Tim and I had another invitation down to the lake - sans children! A big day. My parents graciously came and spent the night and had a ball with Nora. Tim and I were able to have a day of fun and “no” responsibility - it was really great to visit with friends and let loose a bit, but of course great to come home to comfort and Nora.
